The Wounded Healer - The Coming of the Lord
Thursday Mar 12, 2020
Thursday Mar 12, 2020
Some clichés need to go away…far far away…one of those is “the only guarantees in life are death and taxes..” It’s soo untrue and unhelpful. There’s so many guarantees…i.e everyone has those dreams where you’re running but you never seem to run fast enough. Everyone will experience moments of love. Everyone will experience deep desires for relationships. Everyone will prove how imperfect they actually are by hurting someone they know and care about, often the person they care about the most. That last reality is the one that seems to be resonating with our world the most right now. We mess up…We hurt others…We leave trails of brokenness…We need greater experiences of restoration in our relationships…It’s why there’s a simple yet alluring dynamic to phrases like.

Hi, I'm Your Inner World Series: Life in God's hands

The majority of us would affirm the depths of ourselves as being storehouses for some of our darkest secrets, deepest desires, and driving motivations. The story of our lives would leave us with simple yet inescapable conclusion. We need a renovation of the heart.
A renovation of the heart = a transformation of our lives & the lives around us.
This renovation is precisely what the people of God from old prayed for, the prophets of old looked forward to, what Jesus prescribes and promises, and what God requires. Fortunately and wonderfully-what God requires from us, He in grace supplies for us. Throughout history the answer to the thoughtful exploration and engagement in the process of renovation has generally been prayer, to give voice and value to our inner world guiding and grounding it with the voice of the one who made it, God. While navigating the inner world can seem foreign to some of us we need shared language to show us the way, enter the psalms.
The psalms are a window into the human heart in all of its triumphs & failures, hopes & fears, longings & leadings, strength, & frailty. The psalms in their unbridled audacity have served as the prayer journal for the people of God in everyday life looking to eternity. Furthermore, the psalms have served as a panoramic view of God in all His patience, thoughtful, and sometimes confusing interaction with our hearts. The psalms are proof that we live from the inside out and God meets us and forms us in the same way.
